The Two Faces of Control
We spiritualize our fear and call it surrender. (Inspired by the Devil card in the Tarot)
“Enjoy the journey.”
“Let the universe take the wheel.”
“Make your dreams a reality.”
“Stop controlling the outcome.”
Ok, cool… but what does that all actually mean?
I often sit with the conditioning of our current world (check out my latest essay on “Luck’s Grip on Our Dreams” for a sliver of how mind-controlled we are) and how its fear-based tentacles suck our energy, infusing our minds with stories of unworthiness, as we internalize guilt and shame. (Something the wellness industry often profits from).

One thing I can share is “enjoying the journey,” “letting the universe take the wheel,” “making your dreams a reality,” and “stop controlling the outcome” in my eyes means examining who is the one operating the puppetry on the center stage of my life.
Is it the I, the encapsulation of my multifaceted personality, anchored in my authenticity, or is it the ego-identities I took on to fit in, to play small, and avoid taking up space at all costs, as if my life depended on it?
Who is the I projecting and creating the story of my life?
This question alone helps me to become conscious of when/if I am hyper-focused on an outcome. For me, this usually falls under the story (spell) “I will jinx this,” or how often I am waiting for the other shoe to drop when things are going well.
Anytime I go “unconscious,” I give into soul-sucking-creative-blockades, leaving less space to reflect on how my present perception and actions might be fueled by unconscious feelings of unworthiness, communicating with both my past and my future.
We often speak of unworthiness as a root cause shaped by our past, but fall short of bringing light to how lack plays a role in envisioning the future.
As in: Wounds are energetically stemming from the past, charging the future, AND wounds projecting out in the future are charging the past. Both ultimately fuel our choices in the present time, manifesting into the actions we relentlessly take or resist taking.
Controlling an outcome comes in two forms:
Forcing it.
Blocking it.
Both are driven by fear.
And both are subtle forms of self-abandonment.
Some of us force an outcome. We use our willpower towards an arbitrary outcome that can’t actually give us what we’re truly seeking. Others suppress our desires under the illusion of humility, afraid to ask for too much, afraid to claim what we long for.
We spiritualize our fear and call it surrender.
But both expressions of fear stem from the same root: a disconnection from our intrinsic worth and our innate intelligence to create.
The Devil card in the tarot speaks to fear dressing up as control, built by internalized shame, distorting our desires, and fearing our own power.
But what if enjoying the journey means calling out how we have been conditioned through propaganda?
What if allowing the universe to take the wheel is about remembering our creative capacities by moving in the direction of what we are longing for?
What if making our dreams a reality is about calling out who exactly created the dream in the first place?
And what if our attachment to the outcome, whether we force it or block it, is a projection of fear, built by societal, cultural, political, and economic conditioning, programming us to believe our power lies somewhere out there?
Let’s use time management as an example.
Not how to “do it better,” but why we even feel the need to manage it at all.
“Create a morning routine to maximize your output.”
“If you’re not taking action, it must be self-sabotage.”
“Discipline is the key to success.”
“Just manage your time better.”
What if the constant pressure we feel around time is a byproduct of our conditioning, one that does not honor our creativity?
And what if forcing an outcome or blocking an outcome is a fear-based operating system that pulls the strings, dictating our free will under the illusion/spell/belief that our worth is predicated on an outcome?
What if our visions, dreams, and desires are sometimes perceptual projections that aren’t even ours to hold? Like implanted seeds of conditioning that cloud our connection with our genuine desires, forgetting the genuine liberation that comes from creating what actually provides us with meaning and purpose.
Using time as our example… just look at how we were indoctrinated to give our power over to time. We need to use time to earn money to meet our basic living expenses. This can manifest into chasing numbers on a clock or being held hostage by numbers on our bank statements, holding the key to safety and liberation.
We hustle for worth, question our value, disconnect from our genuine desires, and ultimately, we CONTROL the outcome out of fear.
And in doing so, we neglect love and continue to fall under the spell of unworthiness.
So if we’re consuming advice around “managing our time” without ever naming perceptions and conditioning that dim our light and keep us in patterns that do not serve our innate nature as conscious creators, then what are we really doing?
And how can we use the energy of the Devil card to remember our intrinsic worth as creators shaping worlds?
And so I invite you into this conversation.
Think about a desire you have to actualize, to manifest, to bring into this reality.
Are you operating under the spell of overexpending your free will, or are you operating under the spell of downplaying your soul’s will?
Are you one to persist, leading to burnout, or are you one to resist, hiding in the shadows, afraid of being seen?
I believe our role on planet Earth, this floating rock in space, is to become conscious. To become aware of the ways the current worldview is a manifestation of our past and become the master puppeteers of our future.
And the intuitively-led message is…
Let love in. Use love as a force of creation to work through you. Allow love as a permission slip to become one with the process of creating YOUR life based on your unique star blueprint.
Love is what transcends attachment to the outcome/destination… not because we stop caring about what happens in the future, but because we are reunited with the pure fulfillment of being as we are right now.
Love provides the safety and space to become deeply connected with our desires and ultimately actualize them.
It’s as if love reminds us of the genuine alignment that occurs by being conduits for creation…Fully and completely, wholeheartedly rooted in our being.

P.S. I am currently holding a 12-day contemplative journey focused on actualizing our desires. Each day, I share an intuitive message followed by a prompt or quest. You can join by subscribing to Point of Life and entering the group chat.
